Pivotal 6.6 Smart Client
« on: November 10, 2017, 12:42:30 PM »
Did anyone attend the "New Smart Client Training" session at the 2017 Aptean CRM Conference?  I'm a little worried, based on the description, that Visual Studio is being discarded as the form designer in Pivotal 6.6 and that Aptean is going to force the legacy form editor on the Smart Client.  Using VS for the form designer was one of the things we really liked about Pivotal.  The designers in the competing CRM packages paled in comparison.

Pivotal 6.6 retains the visual studio designer. I have access to 6.6 alpha and don't find any difference in the way you create/modify a client form.

@Ashish Iddya what about technology?
Could You write some more details?
Is it still WinForms or WPF? What about client tasks? We use Client Task in almost every form to modify controls and add customization's. Will it still work when switching to 6.6?
What about ProductivityPack? Will it work with 6.6? One feature that I use is counting elements in secondary (in tab title).

Any news when 6.6 will be available for all customers?

It is still in winforms. It does support client tasks and as far as I know it is 100% backward compatible with existing customizations.
I do not have access to Productivity Pack and hence cannot comment on it. My guess would be that Aptean would make sure it works with 6.6 too.
