In our project we are going to do Loadtest of CRM tool Pivotal , i need to know whether we can use Loadrunner for this purpose, if so which protocol is needed to be used.

Hi,

There are some diagnostic tools that have been made available for the v5.9 in the eservice site. Please check the same. If that does not help you and you have some time on hand, you can get a confirmation on using the Loadrunner tool or any other tool from support. That helps and it is official. For active access third party tools have known to be used. For IIS and COM the generally available tools in the market can be used for any kind of testing.

Hi,
Thanks For your reply,
When i record the script using tool , Data communication is hex format , It is not human readable words,
Load Runner it is basically acting between server & client ,
For Ex. Consider the simple search scenario- when i enter the sample keyword , i am not able to find like that word in script, generally it should be readable,

I recording in Web HTTP protocol of the load Runner ,

I also read in pivotal , it is sending the data using some comprssion methods to server , attachement is given

Can i know how this compression happening when data goes from client to server or vice versa ?

Please find the following data - recorded in LoadRunner -

web_custom_request("rmtre.dll_259",
                          "URL=http://IPaddress/epower/rmtre.dll?10.RDWriteAccess.AddFormData",

Load Runner will not work with Active Access, I've only seen it work with Windows Access.  The communication to the AppServer Rule from the Client Script is HTTP but it is wrapped in a layer of Pivotal DOM API calls....What exactly are you trying to test?  If you are trying to test server performance I would focus on LCS using a tool such as Pivotal's PLASMA tool, as well as the database performance.

we are testing this tool from CDC called diagnostics , seems to be pretty basic , but does the work , i would suggest you to take a look at this before , going for expensive load testing softwares.
